Despite the rising amount of financial aid available, many students stress about spending money.

LPC adopts new HigherOne Debit Card
Along with the new school year, comes a new look for financial aid.
Beginning in August financial aid students at Las Positas College and Chabot College will receive their financial aid return in the form of a debit card, rather than a check. The colleges have joined forces with Higher One, an online banking institution focused on those who are reaching for higher education.

Students attending Blinn College now have their own debit card. Qualified students received their “Blinn Bucs” cards this week. The college will load the card with financial aid and refunds for dropped classes and other charges. Students may also supplement the card account with other funds and use it as they would any bank debit card.

OCCC wants to send you money. However, they want to send you that money their way.
This fall, all students enrolled in a credit class will receive a debit card in the mail that will allow them to accept direct deposits from the college bursar’s office, said Bursar Brandi Henson.
The cards being sent out are essential for receiving any financial aid or refund, she said.
Henson said it is important for all students to be aware of the upcoming changes, not just the ones who receive financial aid.

(“Higher One” or the “Company”), a technology-driven financial services company serving higher education. Lightyear’s investment in Higher One is part of a leveraged recapitalization through which the Company will repurchase shares from existing investors. Lightyear will become Higher One’s largest shareholder with a significant minority stake.
