Sam Houston State University has been a Higher One client since 2003. The University has extended the program to the administration to include official SHSU athletic travel. Please read the following to learn more about how and why SHSU made this change to benefit the University. As alwasy, please contact your Relationship Manager with any questions.

Why?

When SHSU athletic teams would travel to play an away game the coach would have to cash expense checks. Previously the easiest way to pay large hotel and email bills was large amounts of cash. SHSU figured there must be a better way to pay for expenses on the road so the University approached Higher One.

How SHSU did it.

• Met with the athletic administration to discuss the program and functionality of the OneAccount
• Created a list of athletic administrators for the program.
• SHSU and Higher One signed an agreement specifying fiscal responsibility and changes to be made on OneAccounts.
• Verified each athletic administrator had an active Bearkat OneCard and OneAccount.
• Higher One modified the daily signature based spending limit from $2,500 per day to $9,000 per day, per SHSU instructions.
• New business process established to manage future additions and subtractions to the official athletic travel list.

Benefits
SHSU is now able to direct deposit funds for athletic travel directly to the OneAccount. The deposits are secure, fast and tracked online. The administrator has instant access to funds for athletic travel needs and is no longer is concerned with the safety or security issues involved with cashing large checks to support travel needs.

The administrator may make purchases with the Bearkat OneCard at any Debit MasterCard^® location worldwide; access ATMs worldwide; access a check book or bill payment options online; and can use the Send Money feature for returning unused funds back to SHSU. All transactions are easily tracked and can be viewed 24 hours, 7 days a wekk via the OneAccount online statement—thus making the reconciliation process easy. The administrator also has the ability to instantly send funds to another athletic administrator or team player for official travel use.
