Dowling College is Higher One's 3rd Client in New York

New Haven, CT &ndash July 18, 2007; Higher One, a technology-driven financial services company focused solely on higher education, is pleased to announce that Dowling College has implemented Higher One's OneDisburse® Refund Management^SM.

OneDisburse Refund Management will enable Dowling, located on Long Island, NY, to distribute refunds to the students in a timelier manner than the College's previous system of distributing paper checks. Dowling was concerned with the amount of time that was involved in collecting student information, printing and distributing checks, and handling customer service issues. With Higher One's Refund Management, the school is relieved of all these aspects of the payment process.

"It truly is a win-win situation. Our students get their refunds faster, in a way they prefer, and our staff is relieved of the cumbersome task of producing and mailing out stacks of paper checks," explained Mary Briody, Student Account Analyst at Dowling College.

Prior to implementing the Higher One Solution, Dowling had to juggle the check printing and distribution for each refund as well as constantly monitory the College's practices to ensure that they were compliant with the Department of Education. Now, the College can focus more resources on ensuring the school remains compliant.

Making the refund disbursal process more efficient was not the only goal that administrators at Dowling had for OneDisburse Refund Management. The College was adamant about providing the students with a higher level of customer service. OneDisburse gives each student a choice between three different methods of receiving their refund from the school: direct deposit into a FDIC-insured, free checking account, called the OneAccount, an ACH into an existing third party bank account, or a paper check. The two electronic methods of refund disbursal provide the student with a faster means to obtain their refunds.
